Sources come first

Every spec, rule and technique on CoilAndCoin comes from a published source: manufacturers' spec pages and manuals, federal law and agency pages, state agencies, or numismatic authorities. Each page lists its sources.

Product information

Product specs come from the maker or the retail listing and are attributed (“per the listing”). We don't test detectors, and we don't publish invented depth tests, scores, star ratings or prices.

When sources disagree

Agencies and makers sometimes disagree, and land rules vary from place to place. We say so, point you to the stricter rule, and tell you who to ask.
